A Day at the Park

Walk along beside me daddy and hold my little hand.
I have so many things to learn that I don't understand.
Teach me things to keep me safe from dangers everyday.
Show me how to do my best at home and at play.
Every child needs a gentle hand to guide them as they grow,
So walk along beside me Daddy, we have a long way to go.

Today was such a beautiful day,
and we spent some time at Skaha
beach park while friends were
playing baseball nearby.
Jacob loved the swings.
And so did Jason!

Here is Jacob playing with the
rocks. That was much more fun
than playing on any of the
equipment.

Lucas and Jacob enjoying a sunny
day at the park.
This is the one thing that I am going to miss the most about the Okanagan.
It is March and we are outside enjoying a beautiful sunny day at the park with no coats, hats or mittens.
There is still 4 feet of snow in Fort Nelson!!!!!!

Jacob's First Birthday

On February 24th, exactly one year after our perfect angel was born, we had a family birthday party for him at our house. Jason has a very large family, and along with my parents, my sister, brother in-law, and 2 neices, our house was packed. It is nice to know that so many others love our little boy as much as we do.

Jacob is checking out the 4X4 truck cake that Daddy made. He wasn't sure about the candle on top, and needed help from his older cousin Emily to help him blow it out.

Before Cake

During Cake

After Cake!

It turns out that Jacob has a major sweet tooth. He almost polished off a whole piece of cake and enjoyed every minute of it. Needless to say, he went straight into the bathtub when he was finished eating.

Jacob received so many wonderful gifts. He got clothes, toys, and here he is trying on a new pair of sunglasses.

The next afternoon, we had another birthday party with all of our friends. Again we had another house full; there was about 14 children under the age of 5. It was fun and chaotic, and after we had cake and opened presents, we all went swimming at the public pool. Here is Jason helping Jacob blow out the candle on the cake I made for the second party. This cake didnt get as messy, as it was white cake and I gave him very little icing.

Jacob seemed a little overwhelmed with all the presents we were opening, so I opened most of them with little help from him. The older kids were right in there though, excited to see what was in all the packages.

I was hoping that Jacob would have taken his first steps by his birthday, but it didn't happen. He was so close. He would stand without holding on, but wouldn't move his feet. His first steps happened about a week and a half later on March 5th. Jason was up at work and won't get to see him walk until he gets home on Monday, March 19th.

Here is a picture I took of Jacob walking, a few days after he took his first steps.
