Happy Birthday Jacob!

I can't believe 2 years has past by so quickly. Jacob is growing up so fast. He is now 28lbs and 35 inches tall. He is talking lots, although is still hard to understand.
We had a great day today. We opened presents at home together, and then had a party with all our friends at the Super 8 waterslide.

Jason and I made a digger birthday cake.

The water in the pool was pretty cold, so Jacob spent most of his time in the hot tub. The bigger kids really enjoyed the waterslide. It was so fast and dark. It scared me the first time!!

A beautiful day!

We spent a beautiful day playing outside in the snow. It was sunny and above zero. We had a very nice time sliding, quading and spending time with friends. What a great day!

Jacob changed his mind about sliding down the hill and daddy had to carry him down.

The kids all had a blast eating hot dogs and sliding down the hill. Many of the kids didn't even have to walk back up because they were pulled back up behind a snowmobile.

Family Update

Hello Everyone! Sorry it has been so long since I have done a new post. Not too much new has happened. Jason is working lots, and as you can see from the pictures, he has rewarded himself with a new toy. He bought a 2007 Honda Rubicon. He has been out on it many times, even in -30. Jacob loves it too. We have to hide his helmet, or he will want to wear it all the time.

Jason said that when they ride together on the quad, their helmets occasionally bump into each other. The first time they came back from a ride Jacob was telling me "bonk bonk". Now, whenever he wants to go for a quad ride he says "bonk bonk."

Jason bought some ramps for the quad and Jacob was helping put them together. He was putting all the bolts in the holes and using his tools he got for Christmas. He is such a little boy. Luckily, he likes to do scrapbooking with me too!

My boys working so hard together.

As many of you probably have heard, the mills here are shutting down. One of them is fighting hard to keep open, but if they do they will not be using contractors. This does not help our situation. We're hoping that Jason's bosses will find work for him in the oil patch. I have been told that there is a lot of work out there, so I shouldn't worry. This means that we will be apart again while he is working which defeats the purpose of us moving up here. We will make the best of the situation. Please pray that Jason will be able to keep working and still spend time with us.

Here is Jacob working so hard to put the bolts in all the holes. He did such a great job.

Giving Oakley a big hug.

Jacob saying "cheese."

My little man is growing up so fast. I can't believe that he is almost 2. I am hoping to have his birthday party at the Super 8 waterslide. I really dont want to have a big party in my house. Too chaotic! He is saying so many words now. He is even starting to identify colours. His favourite word right now is "no!" He says it so loud and rude. It is driving me crazy. I liked it better when everything was "uh-huh!" I'm not looking forward to the terrible twos if he acts like this already. If anybody wants to come up for a visit to give me a break, you are more than welcome!!!
We are hoping to be home again for spring break. We had a cruise booked, but when I heard that the mills were shutting down, I cancelled it. Hopefully Jason will have enough work and we will rebook again in the fall. I dont know the exact dates of Spring break of the top of my head, but I know that we will be home for Easter.
We will have to plan a big Easter egg hunt for all the kids.
Hope everyone is well.

Jacob at school

This is my classroom where I do the Strong Start program. Misty (the one giving Jacob some cheese in the pic below) cares for Jacob when I am working, and 2 mornings a week she takes Jacob and her 2 kids to my school.

Jacob likes playing in the water table, and he sure is turning into a little artist. I have paintings all over my fridge. I love that I can work and still be able to spend time with Jacob. He is a little clingy sometimes, especially at circle time, but he is usually good about going with Misty when I cant be with him.

Our house

Finally, here are some pictures of our house. I can't believe that we have been living here for over 3 months, and in Fort Nelson for almost 7. We are enjoying our time here. Even though it has been snowing all day, it does not feel super cold. I've been told that a dry cold is much more tolerable. I didnt believe it till now.
This pic was taken from the living room looking into the dining room and kitchen.

Jacob playing "broom, broom" in his room.

this is our bedroom.

The house has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a full unfinished basement. My hope is to put a nice playroom downstairs, but we'll see if that ever happens!

Northern Living

So we finally figured out how to work our new computer and get some pictures on it. We are not the most technological people. I will do posts more often now that we have figured this out.
So, I wanted to show everyone what we woke up to this morning. Can you believe it? A snowstorm in September! It is not super cold yet, so this snow is very wet. I just hope it doesn't stay. I was hoping for at least one more month of fall.
Jacob was not sure about all the snow, but he seemed to have a good time exploring it. And yes, he can move in his gigantic snowsuit. We have 8 months of winter here. It has to fit him until April.

Sorry about the blur!
I just realized that I have not yet posted any pictures of our house. I will try and do that very soon.

We're settled

Hello Everyone,
It has been a while since I last did a post. We were in the Okanagan for 2 weeks and now we are trying to get settled into our new home. We have almost everything organized now, and it is starting to feel like home. The only painting I did was in Jacob's bedroom. It was a very dark blue and I painted it green. It looks much better. It is so nice moving into a newer home because there is very little that we have to do to it. The basement is unfinished, so we will eventually do stuff down there, but it is not necessary at this point.
I would post some pictures for you all, but my camera is being fussy and not letting me get them onto the computer. I will keep trying though.
We are really starting to enjoy living up here in the North. We are making friends, and have been to a few barbeques already. I am thinking of having a house warming party next weekend. All you in the Okanagan are invited!!!!!!!!!! I wish you could all come and see our new home. If anyone ever feels like checking out the Northern part of our province, you are welcome to stay with us.
I've got Jacob enrolled in gymnastics next week. I will let you know how that goes. I will try and get some pics of that too. Should be fun.
Hope everyone is well. We'll be back in the Okanagan in 2 weeks. Make sure the weather is nice for us!
Love you all.
